Possible To Run A 205 Gentry Head Automatic Model To Power A 8v Turbo

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have owned a 205 turbo technics in the past I am thinking of getting yet another 205 and possibly turboing it again! as i want to get back into the 205 scene!

I have heard stories of being able to use a head from a 205 gentry automatic model with a standard 8v 1.9 block from the gti and it would be able top run a turbo to over 200 bhp as the compression is lower.

This sounds like cr*p to me or is it possible?

thanx

It is, that the squish area in the DFZ Head is deeper, as in the DKZ Head - so in combination with the DKZ Pistons it should give a rather low compression. But beware, the Valves are a bit smaller than the DKZ Valves.

Did you get the idea from the ebay listing of the head? I think it does give slightly lower comp but not the same as low comp pistons, not sure on exact figures though.

Yes it does work but I would at least fit the GTi spec valves as the std ones are far too small, With a TT manifold, turbo + Decent ECU you'll see 200bhp

Modern management means the compression does not have to be as low as it used to be. My CTI runs a gentry engine with 406 turbo parts on it and runs reliably at 0.5 bar and 164bhp / 195lb/ft which is not too bad considering the map on the ECU is for a totally different engine. Proper management or a live remap of the 406 ECU would increase this
