slow_matt 0 Posted June 1, 2008 Hi, Just hoping someone can help identify which wire needs to go in where in this plug, they are just placed in randomly at the moment to keep them out of the way. We've got a yellow green and red! Many thanks Matt
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 3, 2008 I take it you mean the wires in the blue plug? They are the ones for the cooling fan switch in the back of the radiator (clearly). IIRC the middle one should be the 12v feed & the outer ones either low or high speed switching wires to the fan resistor / fan. What year is your car because the wires look like they are from an earlier car than the rad switch? Pre 89ish had a three prong switch wth seperate wires like you have where the later ones have a blue formed plug to fit onto the rad switch. Graham.

pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 5, 2008 Thats from the later car Damnir with the formed blue plug, it does seem like matts car should have the seperate three pin plug & not the one thats fitted to his rad. (My 88 Pug has.) If you have a multimeter, find out which wire has a constant 12v to it & that fits to the middle pin on your current switch, then bridge this wire to each of the other wires in turn to see which runs the fan at what speed (high or low) although I can't remember which wire from the plug does which.
