ccgoose 0 Posted June 1, 2008 Well my 205 is going to be resprayed, am hoping to get some help but mainly do the work myself and i just wanted to ask; Before i paint it i need to get all the dents out, wahat's the best thing to do with these ? Should i just circle them, fill them and sandover before spraying ? The car will be changing colour so i'm guessing once all the dents etc are filled i then need to primer and then when that's dry spray get my chosen paint color on. What sort of paint should i be using ? Is there a particular type and anything else i should be careful of ? Thanks H
notamondayfan 44 Posted June 2, 2008 Should i just circle them, fill them and sandover before spraying ? its never gonna be as simple as that, and personally i think it would be worth having any dints pushed / straighted by a professional. unless youve had loads of practice, filling and smoothing (i find) can be a complete ball ache! as for the other stuff, i dont really know much. just be careful with paints, sometimes they will react with each other (happened when i got a bonnet resprayed) and it came up with small bubbles all over. craig f90 0 Posted June 9, 2008 Dude, If you lived near by i'd help you. But there is a few posts on here and plenty of sites to get tips from. But sadly practice makes perfect. And to be honest its taken me years to get the grasp of all areas of body repair, paint prep, painting and refinishing. If you go for a 2k straight white? use a light grey or white 2k primer. If your a red, blue, green or black fan use a darker grey 2k primer. Metallics may be a bit harder for your first time painting and costly.
