Guest ellisg Posted June 23, 2003 Anybody know how much weight a 1.9 can tow? Can a 1.9 tow another 205? I can find figures for newer cars like 206 which is about 110% of its own weight, but not for 205. Any ideas?
Guest jim300186 Posted June 23, 2003 (edited) for the 1.9 the "gross train weight" thats what the book calls it is 2100kg. So thats 1220kg towing weight. roof rack load 40kg hope this helps Edited June 23, 2003 by jim300186
Guest ellisg Posted June 23, 2003 Thanks that helps So can tow another 205, leaving 340kg for 2 fat blokes and petrol. Maybe even possible to tow a 205 on a recovery trailer( for trackdays). Whats difference between kerb weight and gross weight?

Guest ellisg Posted June 23, 2003 Now I'm confused Figures for a 307 are Gross vehicle weight : 1693 Kerb Weight: 1193 Gross train weight: 2893 Max. braked trailer weight: 1200 Max. unbraked trailer weight: 610 from this Gross train weight - gross vehicle weight = trailer weight Apply to 205 get 800kg How is unbraked worked out

AndyR 0 Posted June 24, 2003 You do realise if you tow another 205 with your existing 205 and a trailer you will have two 205s on their roof. The trailer will pull a little car around horribly. Get a big car, anything, even a lada.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted June 24, 2003 A decent braked car Trailer should be around 200-350 kg along with a the 205 will exceed the 205 towing limit, I tow quite a few cars in my 406 and thats fine but I have used a 405 before and that just about coped with it. The main reason I would think the 205 can't tow much is for one it does weigh much and the tow bar mounting a not very strong.
Guest ellisg Posted June 24, 2003 Yes, trailer would cause problems, I've arranged a big car which can tow 1500kg, which is enough Towing another 205 with tow pole/rope should be okayish, would struggle but wouldn't get the problems you do with trailers.
