chrisj21 2 Posted May 30, 2008 (edited) Been tlooking into getting my full grey leather seats retrimmed in my sorrento and its going to be the best part of a grand!! The chap at the interior place recommended vinyl instead. and it doesnt look to bad in comparison and at half the price im very tempted. obviously with it being ltd edition im not sure what to do. Your thoughts? Cheers Edited May 30, 2008 by chrisj21
Anthony 1,003 Posted May 30, 2008 Wouldn't it be easier/cheaper to just find a set of full leathers in decent condition?
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted May 30, 2008 Sticky, sweaty, shiny, horrible. I've had vinyl seats before, in a very old Mini. They are just plain horrible! Don't do it is my advice!
chrisj21 2 Posted May 30, 2008 Anthony, Yes but trying to find some in near perfect condition is pretty much impossible. Tom, Doesn't sound nice. having never had them before i wouldn't no but thanks for the advice. Maybe i'll have to save some more pennies! Cheers
engine killer 6 Posted May 30, 2008 Will alcantara (material used for the centre part of the GTi6's seat) be considered? it is not slippery at all and you won't slide around in your seat when cornering fast.
ccgoose 0 Posted May 30, 2008 my interior is for sale on ebay, not leather but is a one of so would add to the limited edition bit: Item number: 250253299179
eddie bullit 37 Posted May 30, 2008 ask him to trim the seat fronts in leather and the sides and rear of the seats and back bench in vinyl that way you save some money but dont suffer from a sweaty arse vw golf only has leather on its seat fronts so do some 3 piece suites... dirtdog 4 Posted July 28, 2008 i thought alcantara was more expensive than leather? do you know anyone with a sewing machine? i got quoted 800 quid for full leather ,which i wasnt going to pay. i'd rather cut all the seams and stiches..then you've got templates of the material. cut the shapes out of new material and sew back together maybe not as easy as it sounds(things never are) but sure beats paying 800-1000 quid if you ask me

I had the rear seats from a GTI altered to fit in my CTi, but after paying for it, thought i could of done it myself and probs better. But as for unstiching your limited edition seats, id look to get a pair of tatty fronts to take apart just incase. The rear seats will be easier and you can use the ones you have already, as the rears are basically covers the you can take right off. It will be a a time consuming job, but could work out cheaper (poss!!) ben ps get your bolsters done at the same time if they are a bit saggy
