Quick Caliper Q

I'm pretty sure 1.9 calipers will fit on my 1.6 hubs as long as I use 1.6 discs, right? How do they attach to the hubs though - do they use the same mounting bolts as my old 1.6 calipers?

Yes they will fit, you will need the 1.9 bolts though as the 1.6 ones are far too long.

1.9 calipers can catch the back of 1.6 alloys.

They are fine with 1.9 wheels.

 

Best place for the bolts is a scrapyard, most Pug's & Citroens with Lucas or Girling calipers will have the correct bolts imo. I might have some actually.

Further to the above - I am getting myself confused....

 

I bought some 1.9 calipers which also came with the carriers.

 

However, no bolts or anything.

 

So, can someone please confirm that I need to buy the following...

 

4 x 1.9 mounting bolts (to fit 1.6 hubs)

 

And 4 x guide bolts/pins

 

Is this all? How do the guide bolts attach themselves to the calipers/carriers - I can't seem to work this out!?

All you should need is the mounting bolts and the calipers.

 

Not sure what part you refer to as guide bolts/pins?

I fitted some last week. All you need is the calipers, bolts and a washer on each bolt. Thats it.

By this, I think I mean sliders....(possibly!) Sorry for the vagueness but I have never taken apart/swapped calipers before.

If the calipers are fitted into the yokes (carriers) the sliders are already fitted.

 

The calipers fit to the sliders by two M8 13mm bolts, the sliders are underneath the rubber boots on the yokes.

 

The part number posted above is the one for the bolts to mount the yokes to the hub, these are what you need instead of the longer ones uysd on Bendix calipers.

No, the yokes are not fitted to the calipers - this is my problem - I am trying to figure out what I need to attach them. I have bought the new mounting bolts as above already.

 

So, as far as I can see, I now need those two 13mm bolts and some sliders - correct? (plus the rubber boots which I think come in my seal rebuild kit from Biggred).

The sliders should be in the yokes already, there should be two small rubber boots with the sliders inside on the yokes.

 

Are these not there?

No, they're not there. Neither the rubber boots or the head of the bolts/sliders that you can see in your pic. Am I right in what I was saying before in that case, in terms of what I need? ie:

 

sliders,

bolts (M8 13mm)

rubber boots

TBH you''ll be better getting the full repair kit;

Or another set of calipers/ yokes complete.
