It had new brushes last year, and seems to work fine, but makes a loud screetching/grinding noise Is there anything that could be worn or need lubricating, or should i find another one? HERMAN 33 Posted May 28, 2008 Silly question but have you checked that the gearbox is not lose. After buying my car I found that the gearbox was lose and that one of the dowels were missing causing the gear box and starter to move about. It more likely that the started is knacked though. lee-bg 0 Posted June 2, 2008 Mine was noisy like a 'tractor' and worked like this for 9 months then eventually under hard run 200 km of the car and hot weather it just stopped. Had to replace it because i had a spare one. But as the broken one is still not 'opened' i cannot tell what went wrong with it. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
