Oil Cooler For Xu10 Turbo Engine

Recommended Posts

Anton green

Is an oil Cooler neccessary for the xu10 turbo engine? I notice there are outlets presumeably for an oil cooler just next to the oil filter. I'm thinking I should go for a 16 row cooler and shield the cooler partly from airflow over the winter months.

opinions..

In fact now I have just written that I am not sure they are take-offs for a cooler, I'll have another look shortly

Stock they are take-offs for the heat exchanger, so water not air .

If it's a road car I would stick with the heat exchanger, heats the oil up quicker via the coolant , for short journeys etc...

Sounds like a plan.

Just to confirm what I'm thinking -I pump coolant in and out of this housing and the heat is exchanged inside there. As in, the heat exchnger is what the pipes lead to and from which is why they appear to be water pipes, not oil. right?

Yeah, it get's plumbed into the main coolant circuit. Mine is connected on the top hose and the bottom hose.

If you wanted an uprated air>oil cooler you would need the appropriate sandwich plate/hoses/rad and as said a Thermostat.
