Indicator Positioning

For those of you out there with Morettes that require removal of the indicators, i'm looking for some guidance as to what you have got fitted to yours.

A search seems to indicate (no pun intended) that the indicators from mk11 golf/jettas are a favourite.

As an alternative to destroying my bumper I was also considering utilising the space where I would normally have driving lamps (mine came without), but does anyone know if there is a minimum requirement of height or positioning for indicators. If not i have found some nice clear mini indicators that would fit in the space quite nicely.

Cheers Chris.

MK5 escorts have indicators in the bumper down low so i dont see a problem with that. so long as there clearly visible to other road users i guess, but to be on the safe side ask your local mot tester. I fitted mk2 golf units in the front bumper.

I'm looking more likley to go the Golf route, their dirt cheap from fleabay or GSF. Did you have any difficulties in cutting the bumper?

Now I have got my Morettes something has just struck me, one of the lamps has the H4 bulb which is the same as the 205 already runs and therefore should be dipped and main. If so what is the H1 bulb for in the other lamp, is this a second dipped or main beam?

I'd assumed up to now that it was just a side light and i've never seen a picture with them turned on.

Cheers, Chris.

The outer light with the H4 bulb does both dipped and full beam. The inner H1 lamp is an extra spotlight which is wired up (via relay) to the full beam. As far as I know as the outer one performs all the required functions this is the only one tested for the MOT.

The sidelight on both my twin lamp kits has always been a seperate little bulb in the outer lamp.

Normaly H1 is main beam but you could use it for extra light like the driving lamps.

Inner ones normally main Beam. You link off the original Main Beam. Pretty certain you use a seperate relay for these.
