Mi16 Downpipe Flange Help

Recommended Posts

yorkshirekowboy

hello all,

i have managed to cut and fit/weld the flang for my downpipe at the angle i need it, which all good. the only trouble im having is getting a good seal between the downpipe and the manifold. I have put a new gasket on the manifold, but it still leaks.

i was wondering if exhaust assembly paste should have been used in any case as i didnt put any on. Is it wise to use exhaust assembly paste, even on the metal gasket?

thanks

danny

It shouldnt need any paste. Is it the right size gasket as theres a few variations iirc? also the downpipe flange wants to be pretty much square onto the manifold for it to seal, if its on the piss abit it wont seal.

SOMETIMES if its only a very minor leak they seam to bed in after a while and seal, that could just be my luck though

What gasket did you use as some factor one's are well very poor and last 5 min's before failing, The Pug ones are by far the best.

Do not use sealent as it's a flexable joint, worth checking the downpipe as these vary in size too
