Odd Brake Fluid Loss

Recommended Posts

gti_al

Noticed the pedal getting too long tonight, and found it was almost out of fluid. I figured a hose must have let go for this to happen, but when i got home (after filling it up and giving the brakes a workout all the way back), the tank was still full. I did notice that the carpet was wet with what i suspect is brake fluid though

The master cylinder is maybe 18 months old - i assume this has let go, filled the servo up with brake fluid and it is leaking into the car? Anyone got any ideas why it would die so fast? I have 283mm 307 brakes and a standard 205mc. Does the fluid come into the car if the servo fills up?

Looks like the seals between the mc and reservoir have been leaking... the reservoir also seems to move quite a lot, but i'll start with the seals and see what happens

Must be common.. Mine was doing the same thing! I guess you've fixed it by now?
