Strut Brace

Recommended Posts

right, i have an omp strut brace, its the correct one for the car and i have double checked part #s. however when i offer it up to the struts it looks like the 3 threads its meant to go on are about 1mm out on all holes, and on both sides. any one else had this?

Cheers

1mm out in which direction?

Worth checking that you've not domed the strut tops and caused the studs to splay out.

I had the same problem on my old GTi but i made it fit with the help of a little friend called Hamish the Hammer.

Might not be the way to do it but it worked. I tapped the bolts in the right direction got the bolts to bite and tightened them up and it was fine.

Mine was the same. I found it easier to put on one way round to the other. i.e. the "bar" is closer to one "side" of the strut tower circle bit of the brace than the other side. One way was impossible to put on, the other way was easier. Even then I use some leverage to put it down neatly over the strut.

I just figured it was because it was a cheap bar and thought nothing of it.
