Urgent Help Needed

As the title suggests my drivers window is stuck about 80% down, the switch is OK as i swapped switches with no effect the window will go down but not up. Therefore power as far as switch any way, the motor did go up a bit after much switch pressing but is now kaput!!!!

I guess the motor is the fault, as switch change did nothing, but how can i get the mechanism out, when the window is down the glass stops the mechanism going back to free from the bolt holes?

Also does any one know where to get a new mechanism at a reasonable price, the current one was second hand off flee bay so would prefer new this time!!!!

Thanks in advance

Try lifting the glass by hand while pressing the switch. The motor is probably too weak to lift it on it's own.

Regarding replacement, with the door card off you should be able to manipulate the mechanism while lifting the glass by hand to free it all off. I then used duct tape to hold the glass in the fully up position while I swapped the mechanism over.

Pop the cover where the winder would be off the door card. The splined stub of the mechanism should be in view, and the motor mech. There should be two concentric black circular parts locked by a small self tapping screw. Remove the screw to hand raise the window , as this disengages the motor

Thanks for the advice but i have tried lifting the glass while pressing the switch (also stupidly trying to assist it from below might have lost fingers if it had moved  )

As for the motor mechanism mine seems to be completely sealed with some form of potting compound think i will have to try some gentle manipulation!!!

Thanks for the suggestions as ever.

OK Hands up I'm a dullard, went back out to sort the window out and found the passengers window failing just the same!!!!!! the two switches I'd swapped had both got the same fault (rarely open passengers side and it was OK last time i tried it!!!!) as i had spare switches in the garage tried them and hey presto.

Now to change the passengers door due to metal worm ( door reskined after break in  )

thanks for the advice and sorry i was so dull :D
