notamondayfan 44 Posted May 20, 2008 hey guys i want to paint my cills, as the paint is flaking off below the door pillar. ive noticed its quite thick paint, presumably to stop it from getting chipped by stones. so my question is, what paint should i use? i only plan to spray it with cans for now. what undercoat / primer should i use? of will any metal primer work ok? also ive got a white H reg gti, which paint do i use to match it? im sure ive tried halfords peugoet paint, and neither of the white colours matched. cheers, dean
DamirGTI 342 Posted May 20, 2008 The OE sill finish is – layer of primer , layer of stonechip compound , and layer of car paint on top of the stonechip coat ... if you look a little bit closer you'll see grooved texture on the sills and that's a stonechip coat under the paint which protects the sill surface ... So for painting them you'll need to buy : primer (etch primer) stonechip compound (rubber based) car paint Have fun ! Damir
