Mi16 Rebuild

Recommended Posts

jtek

Hi, My housemate is rebuilding an a 1.9 MI that had a bottom end knock. After getting all of the rod caps off we found that the rod bearing on the 3rd piston from the cambelt end (not sure which way they number these) was goosed, along with what we expect to be the central main bearing. This is already proving a massive problem to get off as it is clamped in position at each end by the block itself. We have tried everything to remove it and it just won't budge. Also we have unseated 2 of the liners, i am guessing these need new seal rings and to be seated at the correct depth?

Many Thanks

Oh S*** the bed that makes us look stupid haha, however watching my housemate running around the house screaming when we got it out put a smile back on my face. Muchos Gracias, the crank came out with no trouble then.

Nah dont worry mate. I did the same and asked the same quest a few months ago. You'll find quite a few of us fell over at that point!

Yes if you have unseated the liners best bet is to replace the seals and clean up the seats. Or get some good seconhand liners if yours are badly lipped on the thrust side (ie knackered).
