Recommended Posts

ALEX

ebay linkThis has gave me an Idea!

Anyone know what I need?

I already have a spare pair of scrap wishbones.

What ball joints do they use, and where can I get them from?

They use rose joints.

Lop the BJ ends off, weld in a threaded tube (perfectly straight) and screw in the RJ's. Sounds alot simpler than it is though.

Looking at the price this guy is selling them at though.

I don't think it's worth my time and effort to do my own.

These look really good quality too!

parts like these have been made for years, but you do have to be very accurate with your cutting and welding or you'll have a wonky car!

(pretty sure PTS GpA wishbones looked like these, with GpN being normal balljoints but with only a slot not a full groove for the bolt)

You're right, they do look like the PTS ones, but I doubt that they are of the same quality.

PTS rose joints are M20 thread with a 16mm hole which makes them a bit of an odd bod bearing and cost in the region of £90 each + VAT (part number is RBJ79MG).

The drop pins are about £35 each + VAT and the rubber gaitors for the rose joints are £6 each + VAT. That makes a total of............ £307.85, and thats without obtaining the withbones and fabrication costs, fitting new bushes etc.

No wonder that companies like AB Motorsport etc charge about £550 for them.

I cost me £230 to make a set a few years ago, and that was using my own wishbones!!.

Check out the prices on the Skip Brown Catalogue.........its a few years old mind!

surely they wont fit, as the bolt on the rj would hit the drive shaft at the hub end??

no, they fit like normal balljoints as far as I can see, just like the compbrake ones I believe.

if the bolt in the picture fits vertical then they 100% wont fit,

as mine (compbrake) fit vertical and use a std pinch bolt horizontal

they those above would need to be horiztonal, else they wont fit

as you will see below, there is very little room for a vertial bolt, and it would need modifying

It's not a bolt, it's a pin, which means it'll fit just like standard.
