djinuk 2 Posted May 18, 2008 Newbie question here, but as ive never done a replacment cv boot before i just wanted some pointers, its my passenger side outer boot that has split, any idea on part number as halfords has two listed, one with a double lip and one with single. The way i was going to do it was to undo the bottom ball joint and track rod end bolt, then undo the hub nut (what mm is this) then i was going to leave the drive shaft in the gearbox whilst i took the old cv of and replaced with new as i didnt want to drop my gearbox oil. pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted May 18, 2008 Unless you have the stretching tool & get a decent flexible kit you'll struggle to replace the CV boot at home imo. It is possible without removing the driveshaft but you have to be careful. Hubnut is either 30mm on a 1.6GTi or 35mm on a 1.9. Graham.

madspikes 41 1 Cars Posted May 19, 2008 I bought the stretching tool and stuff and did one on the old Mazda a while back without removing the shaft... Never again, far too much hassle. I'd say just bang it into the garage. Mad.
