Recommended Posts

i went into peugeot yesterday to get some of those clips that hold the side trim on only to be told that they are no longer avilable. has anyone got any ideas where i can get some or anything else that makes a good substitute for them?

Cheers

Tim

they are still available as i got some a few weeks back. take in the part number and order them that way. or order a full trim clip set part no 6994.44. although i think the recent ones do only half the car.

or try autofive or 205 parts.

Another one of those things that is a complete and utter rip off from Pug for what it is.

You don't really need them unless you are really anal about things and don't like bodgery. Those metal clips are only needed to hold the lower half of the trim flush with the door skin. You can easily achieve the same result using an adhesive tape or liquid adhesive of some sort. Even something like silicone sealant would do the job.

i was just worried that they glue style fixing may end up with them coming off with all the vibrations etc. and you can just glue the lower half too to keep it flush if your doing the glue method can you not?

That is proper bodgery Poomobile, I like your style! why not use some chewing gum or what about hair gel? it will stick eventually

I wouldn't trust glue to hold my trim on. Sure peugeot are expensive but you can obtain the parts from Autofive. Better still get down your local scrap yard and half inch all the parts you need. Jobs a good' un

.....or use a certain bodily fluid?

It's not holding the trim on as such, so it's not like the adhesive has to do all the work of keeping the trim on the car. The rivets and the plastic clips that slide over them hold the trim on the car and should be more than capable of doing so on their own. The metal spring clips that corode are just there to hold the trim flush with the panel (the trim slides upwards under the clip), and that is all you are asking of the adhesive solution.
