1991 1.9 Gti Oil Temp Sender Part Number

Trying to fix a couple of niggles before putting my car up for sale, one of which is a non-functioning oil temperature gauge. The original temperature sender was not present in the rear of the sump, however the wiring was and looked to be intact. I searched the forum and ordered part number 24250, oil temperature sender.

 

I've just attempted to fit it and i've discovered the thread is the wrong size. The plug that came out is M14x1.25mm while the oil temp sensor i've been supplied is something like M16x1.5mm.

 

Does anyone know an alternative part number? The guys at my local dealership seem to really struggle with the older cars.

part number you need is 0242.81. it's listed for xu engine after 09/93
