GLPoomobile 958 Posted May 16, 2008 I had planned to relocate my fuel filter to the inner arch and butcher the original bracket to fit. Now I've got a small 106 filter to do away with the hassle of those f***ing banjos on the original filter To anyone who has fitted one, or something similar, what did you use to fix the filter in place? I take it the 106 must use some sort of bracket but couldn't find anything on Service Box. I'm trying to avoid bodgery so don't want to use cable ties. I might even stick the filter back in the original position (leaving the inner wing free to relocate the washer bottle there instead) since it'll be easier to change now with it's smaller stature and easier to remove connections. Does anyone fancy making me a nice bracket if I come up with the dimensions?
ablister 31 Posted May 16, 2008 i had clips that were the perfect size to secure them, they were off the steering rack heat shields on 307's and may have a couple left. Also if you got to a plumber shop, you may get a clip that is designed for drainage pipe to be the same size as the filter...

Baz 421 Posted May 19, 2008 Mine's currently sitting on the inner wing, the fuel hose into it pops nicely into one of the clips that's there for the wheel brace. Although i did plan on using a coil bracket, as it should be a similar size.
GLPoomobile 958 Posted May 19, 2008 Baz - as soon as I saw there was a reply to this I knew it would be someone suggesting the coil bracket! I was just looking through some photos yesterday and noticed my wing mounted coil and thought 'eureka!'.
Rom 0 Posted May 20, 2008 I fitted mine the other week. I got a P Clip from here. Looks tidy, holds fine, and didnt cost much !! Ive fixed it to the os inner wing, as ive never had a jack anyway. And made it easier with the braided lines, plus i wanted it away from the manifold !
GLPoomobile 958 Posted August 10, 2008 Baz - as soon as I saw there was a reply to this I knew it would be someone suggesting the coil bracket! I was just looking through some photos yesterday and noticed my wing mounted coil and thought 'eureka!'. Just to confirm, if anyone is interested, a 106 fuel filter does fit perfectly in to the early coil bracket, and the coil bracket fits perfectly in place of the original fuel filter bracket
Doof 11 Posted August 12, 2008 so why do people use these over the normal 205 ones?

Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted August 12, 2008 Just to confirm, if anyone is interested, a 106 fuel filter does fit perfectly in to the early coil bracket, and the coil bracket fits perfectly in place of the original fuel filter bracket Was going to say that, I've dumped the s*ite 205 banjo filter ages ago for a much smaller 200SX one. That fits perfectly into a phase 1 ignition coil bracket, which bolts straight to the mounts for the original filter bracket.
GLPoomobile 958 Posted August 12, 2008 so why do people use these over the normal 205 ones? This is why - I come to do a filter change on my Mi, which means that: 1 - I need to buy a new banjo from Miles with the correct bore for my hose. Too many stories of 205s going up in flames to not do the job right 2 - I then find it a complete arse to remove the original filter past the MC and brake pipes, and get to the bottom hose which doesn't have much free play 3 - then I buy a filter from GSF to find that it doesn't have all the washers (common problem) 4 - then I read that even with all the washers they are a bastid to seal and often continue to leak So I ditched the lot, got a 106 GTI filter from ABlister, which is smaller making it easier to fit and remove, and has tails instead of banjos, so you just stick the hose on with normal fuel hose clips. Nice and simple, and the way it should have been done in the first place.
Doof 11 Posted August 12, 2008 I'm sold, where do i get one They flow plenty despite being smaller right?
Ethos 0 Posted August 12, 2008 Would be interesting to see a 205 and 106 fuel filter next to each other to compare....
oli-pug 6 2 Cars Posted August 12, 2008 Mounted mine on the o/s inner wing with a 52mm p-clip and m6 button into the original jack position. Looks tidy!
