Lost Locking Wheel Nut Key...how Can I Get These Off ?

Recommended Posts

Silky

They are these really shabby Peugeot ones, the car was delivered to me last night but I have not been able to find the wheel nut key.

Any idea how I can get them off ?

The car is on XSI alloys, so the bolt holes are quite deep

with great difficulty!! those ones are really difficult to bang a smaller socket onto or things like that so you may need to get some airtools on the job, unless you fancy shelling out on some of those reverse threaded socket thingys. either way hopefully they havent been done up with ir tools otherwise you'll never get them off

These seem to be pretty hard ones indeed...:-(

You may try at the peugeot dealer, they may be have the locking key.

IIRC you can buy "universal" sockets for these types of wheel nuts (always thought they were for thieving scr*&ts) can't remember where from though possibly screw fix or the like. Not sure how effective they are though. they are sort of like the pin frames that kids play with but socket shaped.

Hope this is of some help.

I had some similar peugeot lockers on a gti6, twatted a 14mm socket onto them, and they undid easily (luckily they weren't too tight!)

find out what size socket is just too small to fit over, go to halfrauds or find a friend with halfrauds sockets.

buy/borrow that size socket and smash it onto them, halfrauds sockets have a lifetime garauntee (spelling  )

if it knackers it take it back and get it replaced ;)

Tighten the three normal bolts a little more than normal and the locking bolt is then much easier to remove, I've sometimes been able to undo them by hand this way!

If you cannot find the key I think you will have great difficulty. I had a mare with these as the pins on the key were soft as s*it,

had to borrow a 12v windy gun and some serious foot on levarage to get them off. Bolts being deep in is the limiting factor on gaining

really good purchase I know!

No room to get a socket on, they are deep inside the bolt whole of the alloy and there is no way of getting anything on them

Get a deep socket that fits tightly over the smallest bit of the locking bolt.

It's the key with 4 pins on it, though surely they are all different

not as far as i know, its not like a house key where they are literally almost all different, i think there are a 'set amount' of different ones. Im not absolutely sure on that though...

Anyone know what type of drill bit I'd need to use on these ?

I only need the bolt head off, not fussed about the rest of the bolt, just need the wheels off
