How Do I Get This Off ?

Recommended Posts

Is the white sensor above the oil filter

The black plastic ring round the nut of the sensor wont budge, stopping me from taking it off, any ideas ?

crack the black plastic bit off and stick a spanner on it, its either 21 or 22mm, had the very same problem with the sender I removed from my ill S16 lump last week.

Perfect, I thought that would be the case but didn't want to damage it at all

Actually its some sort of imperial size iirc, but metric spanners will work as it's not tight. The 8v version has a smaller nut iirc as I removed one and I don't have a spanner bigger than 19mm apart from my ring spanners :)

The plastic nut should just push off backwards but if not then just break it as Welshpug says

It does push off backwards to a point, but then the block behind it is cone shaped so the plastic bit cant go up it, will snap it off to access the nut, cheers lads

Either that, or very carefully with a hammer &screwdriver/chisel, knock it undone, they're not usually that tight.
