Gti6 Box Onto 205 Gti/306 Of Any Sort

Recommended Posts

right ladies and gentlemen, i have a dilema (i've done a search but seem to have confused myself)

i'm selling my 6 box as i'm now looking for an mi box

i've been asked what is needed to fit it to a 205 gti and a 306 s16

this is what i come up with via the search, can somebody clarify it for me please

for the 205

a lift up reverse gearstick + cable, pull clutch cable from a be1 205 and the long part of the drivers side 306 drive shaft, take the clutch fork arm off a BE3 and swap that onto the 6box, swap the speedo drive over, swap the 205 top gear selector for the 6 stepped one (anything else?)

for the 306

lift up reverse lever + cable, pull clutch cable, clutch and plate from the gti6

(anything else?)

thanks

for the S16, only the Reverse stop cable and gear lever, the rest is identical (i.e same pull type cable and same pull type clutch)

one problem with the S16 will be the tyre hitting the box, an MOT fail, a stop fabricated onto the rack will solve this, or a rack from a gti6.

exactly the same if they run a pull type clutch which I think most if not all 16v XU10's use (same problem with the rack also)

if its a push type clutch used originally you can retain the original clutch cable and fit the push type release arm to the box, still requires the lift up reverse stop cable.

same applies to the Xsara, and also the 405 but I'm not sure if the 405 would need any modding to the rack as there seems to be enough clearance for the length of the 6 speed unit.

205 is easy to say the lift reverse cable and stick, Swap the Diff and clutch arm over and job done, not forgetting to swap the speedo drive over too
