Recommended Posts

Peetypug

i've got to get a cam belt tensioner, cam belt, water pump and 306 rallye aux belt and tensioner. Other than peugeot ripping me off where would you recommend? GSF? ECP? Thanks

I have been just looking through servicebox, and the prices for the cambelts/tensioners at peugeot stealers are not expensive at all..

its a gti6 engine. Just for the rallye alternator setup its £143. I dread to think what the water pump cambelt and tensioner cost! There must be somewhere cheaper.

GSF or ECP do the o.e stuff a lot cheaper, unsure about the auxiliary belt tensioners but they do list some, wave an o.e part number at them and see what they can do.

Dont forget that the aux setup isn't purely for the Rallye, its fitted to all XU10J4R's that dont run A/C (i.e the 306 XSi, 2.016v 406's 806's etc)

Do check which type of timing belt tensioner you have fitted as there are 2 types, one with a manual tensioner and 136t belt, and a sprung tensioner with 137T belt.

the earlier type is preferred and can be fitted, you'll have to change one or 2 fixings on the block to bolt the different tensioner on.

GSF do the Mi16 Cambelts for approx £12. They will obviously offer you whatever brand they have in stock but the local Glasgow one have always brought in the O.E. Dayco one for me when I have asked for it.....
