Another Rear Beam Question!

Recommended Posts

timmsy19

I know this probably gets asked every day but is my rear be fubard?

picture was taken at an angle.

Its been sitting for about a year and a half at first it felt very stiff as if it was siezed but seems to be loosening up abit.

There is no camber that i can see as yet. Seems to bounce quite well at the back but just a bit stiff

Am i just being paranoid or do i need new shocks for mot?

I dont mind re-building the rear beam but just need it to pass mot first

From that angle its almost impossible to tell but I've seen beams with no play, camber or noises that were fubar so there really isn't any true indication of its condition without investigation imo.

I've known seized beams close to death pass an mot though, its all depends on the tester on the day.

If it moves then it should pass an MOT.

If it's noticeably stiffer than it should be, then I'd assume the worst when you strip it down - it's very rare that I see 205 GTi beams these days that aren't atleast on their way to be knackered, if they're not shot to bits already.

Ok so with that in mind im going to have it MOT'd at end of the month.

Hopefully it will pass then will start re-building a beam anyway as it was on the list of things to do.

Thanks guys
