Roll Cage Supply/fitting In The South

Recommended Posts

daveyboyblack

Hi All,

I'm now looking to put a cage into my trackday mi16. I'm not going to be competing in anything except maybe the odd autosolo so i'm thinking of something along the lines of an OMP 6-point bolt in.

Can anyone recommend anywhere in the South (i'm based in Reading) who could fit (and possibly supply) a cage? Would I be right in presuming that you can weld in the mounts and then simply re-paint over the welded areas. I'd like to avoid going down the full weld/interior respray that i'd expect from a competition car.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Dave

I would tend to favour SD cages if going for bolt in and you know they will fit which in the long run will save you a little, Here's one I've just done with the addition of the harness bar's and extra daig which again I would recomended as fitting them to the floor of the 205 in my eyes isn;t a good idea with the thickness of the metal on the floor,

You only need to paint the mounting point's of the cage as the SD cages come pre-painted or a full respray like this one shown in RED

The Green one is using a Sparco cage which is pretty much the same as OMP bar needing the dash cut slightly at the front but it fit's with a sunroof

hi dave hows it going? :D

can't recomend Miles enough and its a nice drive through the new forest, don't bother with the dual carrigeway for the last part!

I'd also be interested in a cage Miles, is it too much hassel to convert my eye bolt harnesses to roll cage bars?

Another vote for miles, I've got an SD challenge cage, which has the front section down at the A-pillar rather than infront of th edash, which makes getting in and out easier and safer imo, also the rear cage bolts on to the beam pick ups at the back. not much cost difference over modifying a std SD item.

Harness bars are a good idea

Hi All,

Miles i've sent you a pm.

Henry.. i'm good thanks! Car's off road with thermostat issues at the mo... but generally looking forward to getting some tracktime done this summer. How are you getting on? Have you done any more events since Bedford?

Not sure what to do about the harness bars... like everything.. it makes sense so just have to justify it to my wallet!

Dave
