jord294 92 Posted May 11, 2008 hi all i have a 1.6 be3 box in very good condition which is surplus to requirements. because my cars run be1 boxes, i was just wondering how much work was involved in fitting the be3 internals to the 1.9 be1 box, that i have spare? or should i just try and source a 1.6 be1 box instead? thanks
welshpug 1,661 Posted May 11, 2008 depending on the vintage of said BE3 box you could stick all the BE1 clutch arms and brackets to make it a bolt straight in job, change the gearknob and remove the reverse stop cable and job jobbed. as for actual cogs I'm not sure but most are the same, Miles can tell you for sure. Miles 331 1 Cars Posted May 11, 2008 Most of the gears are the same, But the 2/3 sync hub is different for a start, it's a very minor differance you can;t even see by eye but it's there. But as said all the clutch bit's swap over you just can;t run the reverse cable
