Does Anyone In/near Worthing Have A 2 Row Mi Ecu I Could Borrow?

Recommended Posts

Real long shot this, but does anyone local have a 2 row Mi (engine is from a 405 4x4) ECU I could borrow for an hour to test something?

Paul (pug309twin40s) and I nearly have my car finished, we have fuel/the engine turns over everything seems to be as it should be just frustratingly no spark. We've checked everything apart from ECU, as his 309 has a 3 row unit so we can't exchange them. We're at a but of a loss and it's the last thing we are yet to try..

Can anyone local help out? :)

Mat

Yep thanks Baz :(, all fitted - Paul has the same engine in his awesome Goodwood so we've been able to swap/test all the parts bar ecu. Beyong checking this we don't know what to try.

So near yet so far :) and Paul's come all the way from Gosport again to help. Really annoying

I've got a spare but I'm in Sutton - South London. It's a bit of a treck to get from worthing but you're welcome to borrow it.

I work in NW10 just off the north circular so could bring it to work if you can get there in the week.

Thanks mate - I drove to Worthing from Putney down the A3 about 2 hours ago.. typical! :)

I'm still hoping very optimistically to sort something this afternoon as Paul has traveled 50 miles or so to help me out, but if I get stuck I'll give you a shout definitely.

Well as per my PM to Dan ^ we're intermittently getting spark now (sometimes on first turn of the key) which suggests we need to lookg at wiring before ECU. Infuriating :)

Make sure the two relays in the Mi loom aren't damaged, mine would run intermitently because of dry joints in one of the relays, the vibration of the engine running would break the contact and it would stop, then as I fiddled about with the loom the contact would be made and it would run again!

Right, big thanks to everyone who saw this and offered help. We were ready to pack up and give up when we swapped things around one last time (total bodge) and BOOOOOMMM the beast roared into live after about 5 weekends :D:)

It's aliiiiive...

No exhaust beyond the mani meant it sounded kind of fruity :) but it settled to a steady idle after only about 30 seconds which was nice to hear. Now we're not out of the woods yet as this was a temp wiring bodge to bypass one problematic link, I think Paul will be posting a few tech questions in a separate thread to ascertain how we fix it more permenantly but for now to hear it run was magic

Cheers!
