Being New To Turbocharging, Which Turbo Is Most Suitable?

...For the XU10 turbo engine to acheive around 280bhp? I considered the Garrett T28 for an upgrade over the stock turbo but I am unsure of it's efficiency island, would a T3 be better suited for this task?

 

What are these two different units capable of producing horsepowerwise regarding a safe, realistic and reliable flywheel output?

T28 will be a bit small for your goal.

 

there are many variants of T3 to choose from, you should fine one to suit you.

 

the best option would be something modern like GT28RS though :rolleyes:.

for a cheap route a gtir t28 will flow upto around 300bhp and they sell for pretty cheap second hand but as said above the gt28rs is a good bet

Pulsar gtir? -hadn't considered pilfering from one of those..

 

I shall look in to the GT28RS too

yeah the s14 200sx runs a .64 exhaust housing and gtir runs .82 so will make slightly more power with a touch more lag i think people still get over 280 from the 200sx ones aswell so either should do

is this on a 8v or 16v head ?

Using the pulsar standard equiptment will push the power band higher up the rev range than using a 200sx's then.

yep pretty much,

most of the t28 style turbos will have a cracked exhaust housing around waste gate aswell cause of so much heat, so just check before u buy one its not a major problem if its only small and u should get turbo cheaper lol
