Koni Adjustable Shipping Protector

I hate to sound like a moron, but how do you get the black plastic thing off the top of Koni adjustable shocks?

 

 

Edit: Just needed to lie down on the floor with both feet on it, get a decent grip on the top with a rag, swear, heave, and it popped off.

Probably a stupid question as you probably tried, but didn't it just unscrew?

That's what I initially thought - I saw those grooves in the top, and flats machined on the metal part just under it, and put two and two together, but no - it doesn't unscrew. I couldn't turn it with mole grips on the plastic and a spanner on the flats. After pulling it off I can see a sort of splined bit that would've been stopping it turning.

 

Are the Dutch even weirder than the French?
