one of my many haynes manuals had a diagram showing a dummy shock, I made my own with a length of tube, threaded rod, suitable nuts and 2 metal tubes from inside the bushes of an old damper.

So simple, yet so amazing !! I really need to go build one, so then i stop my paranoid habit of readjusting my beam as i swear one side is odd etc :D

I wish i hadnt binned my old shocks now :D

I was going to make 2 bit I didn't get round to it, should have really as I managed to leave it in a mates garage the other side of the country :D I still managed to get a 306 Rallye as spot on as you could get recently with just a tape measure and a trolley jack.

The length of the tube IIRC was 200mm, as was the threaded rod, instead of the old bush centre sleeves you can use a piece of tube in a suitable diameter and length.

Mine was alot easier to make and adjustable.

I can't find a pic atm but....

Basically you need to make the 2 bits at the top out of some sheet metal, you then overlap them and put some nuts and bolts through the slot in the middle. That allows you to adjust the length and its a very simple tool but works no problems. (it also took me about 5 minutes to make. :D
