milk_churn 0 Posted May 8, 2008 Paul AKA '205Turbo' told me how to check whether the TPS switch is working or not, as i mentioned to him that on the two times i took my car for a run it felt like it didnt want to go past 4000rpm. So i checked it earlier and there's no click from the switch through the whole range of the throttle opening and closing. What effect would this be having on my car? Has anybody got a spare switch in their collection of parts that they wouldnt mind selling for cheap as i'm skint beyond belief, after buying a rear beam, a bootlid and a bonnet this week. KRISKARRERA 2 1 Cars Posted May 8, 2008 The only click you should hear is as the throttle is opened from idle. You need to get a multimeter on it to see if it's doing it's wide open throttle gubbins correctly. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted May 9, 2008 I'd agree with Miles. To adjust it check Haynes, basically the idle switch should engage just as the throttle closes. If it doesn't then likely it has been adjusted not to as it is a bodge to try and fix a poor idle (note, a bodge not a fix).
