Starting Issue

Recommended Posts

For a couple of months now the car has been a pig to start. I thought it was the change in weather, i.e: warmer, but I'm not convinced that is the case anymore.

It happened suddenly - an ambient temperature of approximately 1 degree Celcius and the car started on the button. Now that it is about 20 degrees, it's an absolute pig. But the ECU map has not changed and the car always started very well.

It's the suddenness of the problem that has me baffled. My only thought is grubby injectors.

First thing I thought of. They were all fine, but I put in a new set of plugs anyway. This issue arose the day after the starter solenoid spade connector dropped off.

I can't think of any link between the two though.

8 valve TT, running Omex management. It's certainly a lack of fuel, since it will jump into life if I crank it over with the loud pedal on the floor.
