Red Fabric Strips In Door Trims

Recommended Posts

johnsimister

Has anyone found a way of making the red strips in the door trims properly red again? Mine have faded in the sunlight and look a bit washed out. I thought about using red marker pen but I suspect that will fade quickly. Maybe there's a fabric dye of some sort. All ideas welcome.

My idea for my faded ones in the cti has always been permanent marker - not tried yet, but you could touch it up whenever needed

You could try this I http://www.fabricdyes.co.uk/trolley.asp?ch...ype=MB171706was thinking of trying it out on a CTI I'm thinking of buying as the carpet has badly faded and decent CTI carpets are hard to get hold of.

If you do use it I would mask it with that blue 3M tape you get for bodywork so it doesnt mark the trim and remove the tape early so you dont get any 'edges', can you let me know how you get on John?

Carpet dyeing has been covered a few times, apparently it's a plastic based carpet and cannot be dyed, I have assumed the inserts are a similar material, although seem to be stitched in ( vertical loops)

A fabric spray paint would probably work well. i remember on wheeler dealers when he bodged a grey parcel shelf on a car by painting it black! ^_^

Thanks everyone. I think I'll give Last Legend's spray dye a go. Will report back with any news.
