Front Suspension - Missing Bits?

Recommended Posts

Rupertfinch

Ok, after several months of seeing to the needs of my German mistress (mk3 golf 8v) the French lovely is feeling rather deserted. So I'm gonna renew the whole front setup. May I pick your collective minds for a few answers?

I have ready to go ... OE Bilstein dampers, Pug bumpstops, SKF bearings, Baker BM Fast road top mounts and Skip Brown springs, plus most of the Namrick nut and washer catalogue.

So...What else do I require? I've been looking up servicebox and it informs me that 'Mounting assy kit' 503125 sounds like a good idea, but it's £50 a side! and surely there'll be enough to salvage from what's already there, plus I've probably already got some of the stuff (in uprated form)!

Is there a cheaper alternative? Or can I buy individual bits from pug?

Any advice would be greatfully accepted.

You have got the two important items for the top mounts anyway, which is the rubber and bearing. Just clean up and paint the top part of the mount when you strip it and it will be fine.

On this subject...

Is there meant to be anything between the main metal top mount (bit with 3 studs that bolts to wing) And the small cup that goes on before the main strut nut ?

They sit touching metal to metal on mine. I changed the mounts etc. Just curious if theres meant to be any rubber or anything between them.

Sorry for the hijack ! But its kinda relevant

Looks like you have everything to me. Strut wise atleast.
