Helix Autosport Clutches

Recommended Posts

Mad Professor

Good Day All.

Can anyone tell me what the thickness of the pad(s) on a new Helix Autosport clutch.

Also what is the min thickness before you start getting clutch slip.

I ask as I have removed mine, after the clutch has been slipping, but there seems to be a fair bit of pad left.

I am going to be replacing the clutch and clutch plate anyway.

Thanks for your time.

Hello matey, I remember Mr Helix himself telling me that 7mm is the point at which they'll need changing. Judging by the photo, yours looks about that.

Given the very high original cost of these kits say around £250 - £350 that looks to me an outrageous amount of material to still be on the clutch plate & it's only good for scrap !!!

In fact I'd feel well 'ripped off' if that was the case.......

Don't measure a clutch with a rule, not accurate enough, use some verniers. Also you need to compress the two friction surfaces together to compress the internal spring plate - in that photo the gap is still there in between them.

There looks to be alot of meat left on that but that doesn't mean it has alot of life left it just the construction. It could be pure friction material but if it's too thin it won't get clamped properly or the clutch actuation won't work properly. Looks like it may not be fit for purpose though? Too much torque?
