reuben205 0 Posted May 4, 2008 Would it be an mot faliure if i swapped the front standard struts for lowered ones and kept the rear at standard height.its just to get the car throught the mot until i get the rear beam lowered really. thanks
Rom 0 Posted May 4, 2008 The only thing it might get pulled up on would be insecurley mounted springs when raised. But thats only if using std shocks with pretty low springs, if its shocks your changing aswell all is fine.
Phil H 16 Posted May 4, 2008 ...but what about the headlight alignment?
jord294 92 Posted May 4, 2008 ...but what about the headlight alignment? good point. but whose to say it wouldn't of needed an adjustment before the car was lowered? testing stations will usually set the aim there and then f.o.c (some do)
Dabz 0 Posted May 5, 2008 I've always had the tested adjust free of charge for me when the headlights are out so shouldn't be too much of an issue
Foltan 0 Posted May 6, 2008 Mine went through an MOT with standard struts, lowered springs and standard rear OK
AdamP 0 Posted May 6, 2008 My MOT centre charges £12 for the headlight adjustment, or £25 for a half retest if you take it away and bring it back. Screwed either way
Rom 0 Posted May 6, 2008 (edited) Thats theft !! Most places will adjust lights on the spot for nothing. Unless there siezed, or need other stuff removing to get to. As for the retest fee, ill have to check at work as im not a tester myself. But i didnt think all items were chargable for a retest. I know we dont charge for partial retests. Edit Couldnt wait for work Retest Info If the failed vehicle is taken away but then brought back to the same test station and retested before the end of the next working day on one or more of the following items only then no fee is charged for a retest: Lamps is in the list. So id say there included. Edited May 6, 2008 by Rom
