bobob 0 Posted May 3, 2008 I'm just gathering parts to install PeterT stage II cam. This is my 'shopping list' so far: - GTi6 injectors - Number 4 pulley/ vernier pulley - ECU remap/ standalone of some sort - sort out compression Anyone know anything I'm missing? Thanks
pee vee 1 Posted May 4, 2008 might as well put a new cam belt on it while its off mate, just to be safe?
camgti 56 Posted May 6, 2008 How are you planning on sorting out the compression? Proberbly wouldnt recomend skimming the head, maby a copper gasket? Is the motor out? Cam
Richie-Van-GTi 72 2 Cars Posted May 6, 2008 I'll soon have a set of mint xu10j4r pistons for sale, these are a millimetre taller so should give a nice increase in CR assuming there is room in the block for it. Selling as I need s16 pistons in mine to compensate for the restroke.
pete1986 2 Posted May 6, 2008 Wow this could be a really usefull topic for me aswell. Im also looking to increase CR in the near future, I have a mi16 DFW so has lower CR than the more common D6C mi16's. Ideally i would like to achieve 10:4:1 (depends on £££), and use a Peter T stage 2 cam. What options do i have to do this, and at what cost? A mate of mine has a spare D6C mi engine that i may be able to rob pistons and liners from
petert 588 Posted May 6, 2008 If you have a D6C with a healthy 10.4:1, then the Stage II is fine. It won't work on a DFW with only 9.5:1. In regards to pistons/liners, if the DFW set is better than the D6C, I'd consider decking the block/liners 1.3-1.4mm, rather than using worn D6C liners. Alternatively, buy new liners and rings and use your friend's D6C pistons. The #4 pulley is the best choice for the Stage II grind, but I wouldn't use bigger injectors without a new ECU. pete1986 2 Posted May 8, 2008 Thanks Peter, great advise! So if i were to deck the dfw liners, would i need to use the d6c pistons?
petert 588 Posted May 9, 2008 Thanks Peter, great advise! So if i were to deck the dfw liners, would i need to use the d6c pistons? No, use the DFW pistons. The idea is get the pistons flush with the top of the liner at TDC.
