Hi people wunder if anyone can shad any light on my situation i have got a 205 mardi gras that i put a 8v 1.9 on twin 45s into. But i have never been able to sort out the fact that few of my gauges work even though my sensors where all new when i put the engine in. Also when i am sat in traffic for a while my fuel pump will run dry just clicks away.

Only my fuel gauge works but with no warning light i have the parking brake icon and the battery working and ofc speedo but thats it, plus the gaugs lights only shine on one half.

The way my carbs are fuel is from a staright line form the tank to normaly gti filter in engine bay then to a faset pump then into a regulator then to carbs.

When i went about the mission of sorting the wiring to get the thing runing i used my old 1.1 loom for the lights and interia controls and i took the senors wiring and the coil wiring from a 1.9 loom where the coil is in the right hand side of the engine bay close to the header tank.

Any ideas on how to go about sorting some of this out would be g8 if u need more info of how i have tryed to wire and sort fueling out just let me know

cheers dave

Your fuel problem sounds like it is due to the pump not being able to pull the fuel up from the tank. The pump would be better under the car somewhere, pushing fuel to the egine bay, rather than pulling it from the tank.

Seems you have an issue there, firstly I would probably suggest removing the standard Fuel Filter as this could possibly restricting the feed of Fuel to the carbs, either get a filter king thingy or like mine just feed direct to the pump as the pump (if its a Red Top !) has a filter already in it.

As for the pump clicking away I've had this problem and it was down to a dodgy connection to the pump. They seem very sensitive to voltage drop as in, if its not getting its full quota of voltage it will click away making you think its working but won't be pulling anywhere near enough fuel. Have it ticking over till it starts to click lowdly then try running a direct feed to the pump from the battery and see if it starts pumping again. If it does sort your feed out to it.

Also check the pump is earthed well.
