steve@cornwall 100 Posted May 2, 2008 I know some of you have converted from ph1 to ph2 rear lights using the original loom to replace the earlier one. Having just removed a complete loom from lights to fusebox I wondered how much of the loom you actually use? Would have thought it was a struggle to do this swap in a whole day, as opposed to less than an hour it takes to just re-wire the lamps and run a cable through a hole drilled in the boot floor ! Have you managed to run the loom through its original route in the double skinned rear panel?
inferno 1 Posted May 2, 2008 Yes you can reroute in the original double skinned section, but its a bit fiddly, id say its possible in about an hour if you know where everything is to start with. My first conversion took about 3 hours and i only used part of the loom and spent a lot of time testing wiring etc.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted May 3, 2008 All the conversion looms I've made just used the minimal amount of phase 2 wiring cut from the nearside light aperture & trimmed to suit. My looms run through the inside of the rear panel like the original phase1 cloth loom & imo involve no extra wiring other than the conversion loom & reversing light loom adding in. Graham. steve@cornwall 100 Posted May 4, 2008 Thanks, guys The first conversion I did (pre-forum days) I used the ribbon cable in situ on the PH1 loom and fitted individual spades to the wiring and drilled a hole in the boot floor above the reverse light for that. My red one came with the conversion done ( think it was an auto5 kit) and the wiring runs along the boot floor without a problem. This time around it's for somebody else's car and I'd seen reference to using the loomas the better way to do it - so removed the WHOLE loom, you know, just in case!!!! (I wanted the nice grey carpet, anyway I thought it was just a tad OTT. Seems it was, particularly as I already had a ph2 loom, cut at the rear seat position
