How To Replace Lower Engine Mount Bush

Recommended Posts

Tom Fenton

Did this the other day and found out a useful bit of info I thought I'd share.

I removed the old one (knackered) by pulling out the rubber bit and then making a single hacksaw cut through the steel case, this then fell out.

When ever I replace a wheel bearing I generally keep the outer race so I have a selection of press tools that may be the right size for other things. I discovered that-

a 1.6 front wheel bearing outer race is the perfect size to sit on the steel case of your new mount and press it in square

and

a 1.9 front wheel bearing outer race is the perfect size to sit the alloy bracket on and allow the mount boos to protrude through whilst you press the new one home.
