Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted April 30, 2008 Well in less than 2 weeks our gert and I are off on the psooc euro tour, and lo and behold the heater fan (despite me dismantling it completely and greasing the bushes twice) has started groaning away merrilly to itself again. GSF list a new one at £48 + VAT, has anyone ever bought one, and was it any good? I really can't be ar$ed to mess around spending £15-odd on ebay for a s/h one only for it to be groaning again in a few weeks time.
Simes 248 2 Cars Posted April 30, 2008 GSF list a new one at £48 + VAT, has anyone ever bought one, and was it any good? I have - can't remember who made it but I've had it about 4 years and fingers crossed no squeaks or irritating noises.
Last Legend 0 Posted April 30, 2008 I bought a new one from GSF about 3 months ago, doesnt seem as powerful as the old one but it might be something else,I was also weary of going down the ebay route.
Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted April 30, 2008 You could gamble on a 2nd had one for a fraction of that.
Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted April 30, 2008 I could, but I'm not going to, at current ebay prices I'd be paying nearly £20 with rip-off postage taken into account, with no guarantee that its any better than the old one was. I want to fix it once and for all.
M@tt 77 Posted April 30, 2008 well i've got one in my cti and one in my t16 you can borrow for the trip if you want, i'm sure one of them would be ok with a bit of oiling/greasing let me know if its of any use
welshpug 1,656 Posted April 30, 2008 They're usually O.E manufacture from GSF which would usually be Valeo, I bought one for my AX years ago and had no trouble at all with them. Quick call to a branch would confirm which manufacturer they come from.
Ahl 4 Posted April 30, 2008 I took a heater fan out of a low mileage 306 once, though I can't remember what phase it was. The motor was the same as the 205 one, although I had to butcher the plastic casing and swap the fan 'impeller?' itself. Could be handy perhaps...
Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted April 30, 2008 Cheers Matt I'll bear it in mind, although I am tempted just to fork out and be done with it once and for all.
