Recommended Posts

ANDYMISIXTEEN

I have a Mi16 which im putting in my Cti.Im not sure how long it has been built/sitting but it could be 5years ish. Will the Cam Belt need changing? Also while im here do i need to use an original Puegeot oil filter?

After that length of time, you often find the tension of the cambelt will cause issues with water pump, especially if it's been on a touch tight. For peace of mind I'd do water pump, tensioner and cambelt.

Yes the Purflex Pug spec oil filters are good with a decent non-return valve unlike some aftermarket crap out there, and very cheap from places like Neat Autos (£2.40 last time I bought, but did buy 10 in one hit)

It's easy enough when it's out of the car and doesn't exactly cost a lot. IMHO it's worth it.

Personally, for the price..id change it, for piece of mind if nothing else.

There not the nicest to try and do in the car :)

Belts have service intervals..in years or miles. Just because it hasnt done any mileage doesnt mean the belt wont be weaker with age.

Its probably about £100 to change it all...or £xxx if it gives out

Peugeot/Citroen part number for the tensioner is 0829 20 £37.30 ea (both the same)

Timing belt is indeed 133 teeth, Peugeot part number 0816 40 (Peugeot want £29 24 for the belt :) )

GSF part numbers are N13170 (£26.50) for the tensioner (you'll need to order 2) and N13121 (£11.45) for the belt, though I'm sure they do it in a Kit.

dont get it from Pugspares, they buy their stuff from GSF and as you can see from the prices I quote, they're bumping the price up a fair amount!!
