Jrod 7 Posted April 27, 2008 Take the scuttle panel off and you can get a drill in there. Drill and tap.
jord294 92 Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) i recently had this problem. the bolts even snapped in the bonnet aswell. i used a 3mm drill bit and drill to make the initial centre hole, then went up in size just enough to re-tap out as stated by jrod. remove scuttle panel first oh, if your car is has a sunroof, you may have to remove the vacuum tank aswell (that's if it's the bolts on the n/s that have broke) Edited April 27, 2008 by jord294
sutol 0 Posted April 27, 2008 Must be a common fault this as my nearside one has snapped as well, and I never even touched it
Gentrix 2 1 Cars Posted April 28, 2008 I used these type of rivets it´s an easy fix.
Atari Boy 11 Posted April 28, 2008 Slight hijack, sorry. i recently had this problem. the bolts even snapped in the bonnet aswell.i used a 3mm drill bit and drill to make the initial centre hole, then went up in size just enough to re-tap out I have a replacement bonnet that I want to fit but one of the bolts on the bonnet has sheared off, access is not great. Mole grips won’t work and the bonnet cuts back making drilling the bolt tricky. Any tips on getting it out? Thanks Jonny

Gentrix 2 1 Cars Posted April 28, 2008 What are they called? apparently you find them as "threaded rivets" on the bay. Item number: 370045487682 You may need a different Rivetgun also. Item number: 310020822991
chris1986 1 Posted April 28, 2008 thanks for that, i wasn't sure wether or not you could get a drill in. mine does have the big sun roof aswell. i've used the riv nuts before and they are pretty good. i take it this is a pretty common problem then because i havn't actually touched them the have just fallen off
