Fitting Phase 2 Heater Controls To A Phase 1 Car

Hiya guys

 

Now all my phase 1 dash is out i had a look at the heater section. I was told that this never changed through the models and i should be able to fit the new heater controls to it.

 

I've had a look and the old phase 1 it was controlled by sliders. The new phase 2 is controlled by wires. I was wondering how do i fit the wires to where the sliders are?

 

 

Here is a picture of the back of the new phase 2 controls. The middle section attaches to a wire which is already on the car and it controls the same thing so that makes sense. Its the two controls on the side which have wires attached which is confusing me. Can they be attached to the sliders?

this is where the cables go if it helps - the cable left in the car goes from the centre dial to the cold air control above the heater motor, and the l/h cable goes to the white control arm on r/h/s and vice versa
