Andrwn8304 0 Posted April 25, 2008 (edited) Has anyone got any suggestions on this was thinking of changing the clutch due to stiff selection of 1st and 2nd gear when cold it does ease up slightly when its warmed up and I was advised by the local Pug Dealer that it sounds like the clutch assembly at fault, they then went on to say get a LUK one as there standard in pug 205's So is it better to get LUK or Valeo or any that is not a Re-Manufactured Clutch Kit Edited April 25, 2008 by Andrwn8304
boombang 2 Posted April 25, 2008 either will do fine. Doesn't sound like clutch at all though, change the box oil and see if that helps.
MerlinGTI 3 Posted April 26, 2008 (edited) I got a LUK one from GSF and its been fine:) Tried adjusting the cable? Is it slipping? I must say it doesnt sound clutchy to me, Id do the oil first as boombang says. EDIT: Also as a side note, after recently doing my first 205 GTI clutch Id try EVERYTHING else first before replcing the clutch! What a slag of a job! Clutch doesnt slip, the pedal hieght and bite point seems good about 2inch's off the floor. I got the gearbox back after having the 3rd and 4th hub done to this problem I've took back twice and they keep saying its okay which probably sounds right cos i tried another box with the same problem since then I've put semi-synthetic oil and hasnt cured it. Rang another gearbox specialist today described the problem and when I asked about the oil he said either go to Pug and their own oil which is different to ordinary gearbox oil or try putting Automatic Transmission oil in it (I'm a bit dubious abit this one tho). welshpug 1,657 Posted April 26, 2008 (edited) PSA's own spec oil (from Shell total or esso etc, BV spec 75w80) is quite different to the usual stuff even of the same advertised grade, they do work quite a lot better with the right stuff in and its not expensive Edited April 26, 2008 by welshpug
