allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted April 25, 2008 i'm a throttle body for my supercharged mi. i'm thinking (guessing) it wants to be around 58-60mm and must be very compact due to lack of space and simple ie, just a cable attachment and a tps. does anyone know of anything. preferably off another car rather than an expensive aftermarket one. cheers al
danpug 1 Posted April 25, 2008 Would the VAG 2.8 v6 tb be any good?
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted April 25, 2008 The VAG one was very popular. Not heard much about it recently. The standard GTI one is 57mm.
allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted April 25, 2008 The standard GTI one is 57mm. ahh thats interesting, got loads of these knockin about never even thought to look at one. danpug, forgot to mention i'm after a single round one not a twin mi style one. just to clarify its being fitted to a custom inlet manifold and not an mi one, so any 3 or 4 bolt mounting is fine
danpug 1 Posted April 25, 2008 Ah i see. There must be something ideal out there then!

C_W 3 1 Cars Posted April 25, 2008 Won't a single round GTi-6 one do?
allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted April 25, 2008 Won't a single round GTi-6 one do? am i right in thinking these have a 66mm butterfly? this may be a bit on the large size for what i'm doing

Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted April 25, 2008 VW Golf mk 3 2.0 GTI, large round body, quite compact, has throttle pot on it, idle bypass etc easily plugged off etc. Use one on the Mini 16v turbo.
allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted April 25, 2008 VW Golf mk 3 2.0 GTI, large round body, quite compact, has throttle pot on it, idle bypass etc easily plugged off etc. Use one on the Mini 16v turbo. think there 70mm, they look perfect though. does anyone know anything about throttle body sizing for forced induction? would a 70mm body be to big? welshpug 1,657 Posted April 25, 2008 is that 8 or 16v? or are they both the same size?
allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted April 25, 2008 is that 8 or 16v? or are they both the same size? the one i found on the bay was a 16v http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-MK3-Golf-16V-GTi-...5.c81.m20.l1116
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted April 25, 2008 does anyone know anything about throttle body sizing for forced induction? would a 70mm body be to big? Works just fine with 1293cc so I'd imagine with 1905cc it will certainly not be too big.

Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted April 25, 2008 All depends what your ECU will read. You may have to adjust the throttle pot to give the ECU a better reading. I know I had to spin the pins round on mine and use an adapter from a Mk3 Cavalier to get it to work with the ECU. The usual restriction is the stud pattern to go onto the inlet. The usual restriction is the stud pattern to go onto the inlet. as i say, theres no probs with stud pattern anything will do. wasn't really worried about the ecu side of things, just about possibly oversizing or undersizing the throttle body. think i'm worrying to much. i'm gonna pull my gti6 body off my rallye and see if it'll fit it
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted April 26, 2008 Well 1293cc at 18psi boost at 9000rpm is more air flow than 1905cc at 6psi at 7500rpm. It will work fine.
allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted May 1, 2008 managed to sort this now, I spent monday routing round scrap yards and came up with a very simple 57mm body off a volvo s40
