as above really. no im not trying to steal one!

found one local and thought id get the engine to keep as spares or for another project(after i went 4hours away to get my other one from an xm) but the guy doesnt have the code so i cant start it to check it works and obviously ecu will be locked. thought i read once something about sending a switched live??? i have the xm ecu for mine which im pretty sure i unlocked right(havent got it up and running yet tho so not sure.) so is there a way i can start the 605 without the code and if poss. unlock the ecu?

i really want it but i dont want to buy an untested engine with a locked ecu or bugger my ecu up.

hope someone can help

thanks

nat

yeh mine runs with a switched live

it only needs 12v until its running

i belive its pin 22

but if your look on the loom, do you have a black male plug with 5 green wires comming off it?

well, you see 2 of the wires are cut

1 of these needs 12v, but from running mine all time all it seems to do is earth out the brown multiplug. thus giving power to (i think) coil pack, injectors etc.

and its pin 27 btw

but ill double check tommorow, ill bell it out

i can only see one cut wire there?

if you can check for me be great. so if i put 12v to one of the wires it will start then i can unplug ecu and it will be unlocked?

thanks mate

The old citroens used to unlock with 4 zeros or maybe they were completely different ?

I tried the unlock method on my 406t. it didnt work for me. Ive had to keep the keypad in or the car wont start. But i dont need to type in the code. Sorry but i cant remember how i wired it for sure, but a connection to switched live from the keypad was involved. I have the manual that came with the car it explains changing code numbers, ill get back to you about that tomorow. You can then hopefully see if it can be changed without engine running.

Im sure Inferno or fuqa put up a post about bypassing the key pads thinking on it? its an old post though.

Im pretty sure its on my zx turbo post... the one i had a big rant on  only 2 of those green wires are needed and they need a live and switch live iirc. ill have a dig around later and see if i can find my old notebook.

You can use the unlocking ecu method too, get a car running with known code. swap ecus, start it with the cars code, unplug keypad while its running, switch car off. ecu is unlocked.

As far as i know, pin 27 only works on the 605 loom / ecu

I used this method to bypass the keypad on my turbo lump

Ive tried it on a xantia and it didnt work.

For the 406 it says to use 1111. But you need the ecu to be clear from any other codes. :) 1111 is the factory set code :( . But thankfully inferno's replied. :)

hmm, there's a plug like this on Goliath's XM loom, but it only has 2 wires, I forget which ECU pins they were connected to right now though!

It was pins 2, 13 and 50. I think mine only had 2 of those though.

Is this works on a Xantia? How will be unlocked the locked ECU that is not in the car when unpuging the keypad using an ECU knowing its code?

It should not work.

I am right about finishing my Mi16 2.0 swap and one of the problems during installation was that at some stage I got the ecu locked. I looked into the matter and I discovered the following:

The code from keypad is in most cases in one ecu EEPROM chip (memory chip) . What the ecu unlockers do, they desoldier the EEPROM and read the file. In the file there are numbers like 03 03 03 57 02 ...The first three double digits was some kind of access code and then it continued with my immo code (so i found out that my immo code was 5702.

I wanted immo off, so in my case one guy changed the the file to immo off, by replacing the first 03 03 03 to 00 00 00 and it was done - the new file was read to EEPROM and soldiered back.

So basically, if there is someone you know who has a EEPROM reader, it is possible to read the right code from ecu chip. For immo off, i am not sure that every ecu has the same possibility, but for my 96' XU10J4 from Xantia, this was the only thing that was changed in the file.
