woodsy

in my quest to stop my sump leaking on my mi motor i tried using just silicone, anyway just removed it again and noticed some of the holes for the bolts in block have got silicone inside them stopping few sump bolts going all the way in, anyone got tips to get the damn stuff out.I noticed this after i wasnt concentrating on one of them at the back of block and went pop and have a tiny piece of block broken of but it wont leak from it as its just hollow for the sump bolt to go into.Typical hey!

Try screwing a long wood screw into it then wrenching the screw out with grips/pliers.

Try running a tap down the holes to clean them out. I had the same on an engine that I am rebuilding. I used a M6 tap which is to small because I think that it should be M7 which is quite a odd size and harder to get hold of. But the M6 worked a treat.
