Sticky Throttle, But Is It?

Recommended Posts

tjcgti

My pug runs fine and nothing wrong with it. But the throttle gets stuck up to 2200 ish revs. Give it a little blip and goes back to normal. When pushing the throttle gently revs up to that point and stays there.

So firstly I thought it was an air leak, nope.

Then the ecu giving too much air, nope.

Then the throttle cable, nope.

Then the throttle housing dirty, nope cleaned it up.

Then gave it a cheap extra spring, (elastic band) to pull it back properly, still does it.

Went to a peugeot guy in town, he says that it is the butterfly valve. He needs to file a bit off it. If done wrong it can cause a leak. Just wondering does anybody have a rough idea of how much it is going to cost? (bit short on money)

Have you checked the butterfly spindle hasn't got too much play in it? I had the same symptoms and found that air was leaking from the butterfly spindle hole and this varied depending on how the throttle cable had settled or snapped back when letting off the pedal. Might be worth removing the throttle body and give a good check over, maybe tape up one end in pour some water in to see if it leaks out.

What engine? If its a Mi16 then the throttle switch not making the idle contact when off the throttle will do as you describe.
